"Cultivating Friendship Through Community Action"

Our objectives are to promote the love of gardening among amateurs, to promote the study of horticulture, to protect native trees, wildflowers and birds, and to encourage and implement sustainable civic planning and planting in Glynn County, Georgia.

Live Oaks Garden Club is a member of The National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Region, The Garden Clubs of Georgia, Inc., Oleander District, and Saint Simons Council of Garden Clubs.

We meet monthly September through May, on the 4th Monday of the month, 9:30 am at Frederica Presbyterian Church, 150 Delamotte Road, St. Simons Island unless otherwise published.

Next Meeting January 23, 2017:
"Let's Get Ready For Spring" Presented by Karen Summers, Coastal Bloomers

Live Oaks Garden Club recently planted a Reflection Garden adjacent to the Butterfly Garden.

This garden features a variety of shrubs that will bloom throughout the year. A bench will be placed in a shady spot to allow visitors to relax and reflect on the beauty of both gardens. A Garden Art Piece will also be installed. The garden shrubs include: Majestic Beauty Hawthorne, Limelight Hydrangea, Pink Perfection Camellia, Shishi Gashira Camellia, Oak Leaf Hydrangea, Cassia, Plumbago, Thryallis, and Bleeding Heart Vine. June Sortwell (pictured) co-chair of the Island Beautification Committee spear headed this project with assistance from Betty Lou Schoneker, Rose Applegate and Sandra Johanek. The group worked with Coastal Bloomers.

All proceeds go towards community beautification projects
